This hatred of the common working man and his favourite tipple, a nice pint of beer, can easily be demonstrated by the fact that neither MP has signed Early Day Motion 892. At the last budget, the Chancellor enacted the first cut in duty on beer since 1959, to help the pockets of hard pressed beer drinkers and to try and do something to help the ailing brwery industry. Tory MP Andrew Griffiths (clearly a tad more down to earth than the lot around here) tabled EDM 892 to congratulate the government on this wise move. The text of the EDM states
That this House welcomes the ending of the beer duty escalator and the impact of the Chancellor of the Exchequer's historic beer duty cut in the 2013 Budget, the first such cut since 1959, in supporting the growth of Britain's breweries and underpinning confidence in the UK's pubs; and urges the Government to sustain this momentum by considering the case for a further freeze in beer duty in the 2014 Budget which would secure over 2,000 jobs in pubs up and down the land and help reduce the cost of living for hard-working men and women.Now the motion has attracted support from all sides of the commons, even veteran Left wing firebrand Dennis Skinner signed, recognising that the main beneficiaries of this cut would be the hard pressed working people of the country who like a pint after a days toil. Sadly neither Freer or Offord saw fit to sign the motion. Bob Blackman, a Tory MP from neighbouring Harrow has signed, so clearly Harrow Tories are a bit more grounded and in touch with the man on the Clapham Omnibus (or even the 114 !).

You may ask what EDM's they support? Well it seems that Matthew Offord cannot be bothered to support any at all. It seems that Matthew doesn't exactly overwork in the Early Day !

So we have three Tory MP's in Barnet, who between them have not supported a single Early Day Motion.
