Barnet Council Strike - 9th January

Today the staff at Barnet Council are on strike. To show their commitment to the community, striking staff are spending the day volunteering for community projects such as the Larches Trust, a charity based in Edgware, which helps people with special needs.

The Barnet Eye believes that the dispute is completely unnecessary and has been caused by the complete intransigence of Barnet Council and its unwillingness to engage with its own staff. Every industrial dispute is caused by failures of management and unions to communicate. It is completely clear to anyone who knows Barnet and knows the previously excellent industrial relations in Barnet where the fault for this dispute lies.

The Barnet Eye fully supports the staff and commends their efforts for the community on this day of industrial action
